Protoje And Koffee Share Cameo-Filled Visuals For ‘Switch It Up’: Watch – DancehallMag

January 21st, 2021

Protoje took stylin to another level, flexing like royalty in his new music video for Switch It Up featuring Koffee. The four-minute clip is the reggae crooner’s take on a 1940’s era Hollywood dinner scene – oozing with opulence and intrigue.

Switch It Up’s new visuals are a masterful display of roots reggae camaraderie delivered through Koffee and Protoje’s ornate and deadly prowess.  Cameos by the In.Digg.Nation Collective, (Sevana, Lila Ikè, Jaz Elise) Jesse Royal, and others added flair to the 4-minute reel, but the real showstopper was the crew’s swanky attire, as intricate and innovative as Koffee and Protoje’s performance.

Switching between the dining room scene and playful casino antics, the roots reggae duo trades trippy bars throughout the visual treatment. The pair has seen immense success on their own merits, and wastes no time touting not only their achievements but lingering ambitions.

“Me a compete with me past self, dat is what making me sharper/ Always have heart, so when times hard we pick up and we a go harder/ None a me people nuh starve yeah/ Me have di world in my palm,” Protoje spits.

The latter aspiration, to see everyone in his circle ‘eat a food’ cleverly plays out as the concept of the Xtreme Arts directed video. The cinematography feeds into the notion perfectly – look out for the line, “food for your thought, ah no kids meal” matching Jesse Royal’s reveal of the main course to the crew’s success – vital bars for fans to chew on.

Those metaphors may be hard to miss, but what really got fans going is the serving of looks from Protoje’s team of elites which also included singer Royal Blu, vegan celebrity chef Oshane “Chef Vita” Warren, musician Sean “Ziah” Roberts, and creative director Yannick Reid.

As one YouTube fan noted, “the styling is FIREEEE and the scenery as well” while another shrewd comment read “Why not just turn this into a 1 ½ hour movie because this 4 minutes video is everything. This is crazyyyyyy. Lit”.

Others were amused by the grand display of vibes: “it was koffee disappearing under the table for me …lmao  …”like whered i go”.

Switch It Up is one of the four collaborations on Protoje’s ten-track album, In Search Of Lost Time, which was released on August 28 last year.
