Drake Delays ‘Certified Lover Boy’ Album Release

January 21st, 2021

Certified Lover Boy won’t be dropping this month.

Drake has decided to delay the release of his highly-anticipated album. Taking to Instagram Stories on Wednesday (Jan. 20), Drizzy announced that he had planned to release CLB this month, but he’s been focused on his recovery from a knee injury.

“I was planning to release my album this month but between surgery and rehab my energy has been dedicated to recovery,” he wrote. “I’m blessed to be back on my feet feeling great and focused on the album, but CLB won’t be dropping in January.”

He did not reveal a new release date, only saying that the follow-up to 2018’s Scorpion would arrive sometime this year. “I’m looking forward to sharing it with you all in 2021,” he added.

This is the second time the project has been delayed. In October, Drake announced that his sixth studio album would arrive in January. Prior to that in May, he was eyeing a summer release.

Earlier this week, Charlie Puth claimed that the album would be dropping this Thursday, Jan. 21, but the tweet was deleted.

Drake underwent knee surgery back in October after he reportedly tore his ACL, but he’s on the mend. He recently returned to the gym, sharing a photo from his workout. “10 weeks post op I’m grinding for recovery EVERYDAY,” he wrote.

Earlier this month, he reportedly shot a music video with Meek Mill in the Bahamas.
