Former Police Officer Commits Suicide after Kidnapping His Son and Killing 17YO Girlfriend and Ex-Wife

A former police officer facing multiple charges attempted to commit suicide on Tuesday in Oregon, U.S.A., after killing two people, kidnapping his infant son and taking police on a chase.

According to reports, Elias Huizar, a former member of the Yakima Police Department, fled with the child after allegedly killing his ex-wife, Amber Rodriguez, and his 17-year-old girlfriend, Angelica Santos. Rodriguez’s death was reportedly witnessed by her and Huizar’s 9-year-old son, who told police that he saw his father shoot her.

After Rodriguez was shot several times outside the elementary school where she worked, Santos’ body was discovered by the authorities at Huizar’s house. An Amber Alert was later issued for Roman Santos, the teen and Huizar’s one-year-old son, believed to have been kidnapped by the 39-year-old former cop after the murders.

According to the New York Post, following a chase near Eugene, Oregon state troopers found Huizar’s lifeless body with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The infant was taken into custody by the state troopers, and Huizar reportedly died on the scene.

On the day of the murders, Huizar was scheduled to appear in court to answer charges associated with his relationship with Santos. Reports state that Huizar met Santos when she was 11 years old while he was employed as a school resource officer, and he later impregnated her at 15.

The former officer was also facing a rape charge after he allegedly assaulted Santos’ 16-year-old friend while she was unconscious after drinking at his house.
