Shenseea, Rapper Lil Tjay Working On A Collab In Jamaica – DancehallMag

New York rapper Lil Tjay has been in Jamaica over the last week, and it seems he intends to make the most of his trip after he was spotted with Dancehall songstress Shenseea in the studio.

When he arrived on the island, on February 22, Lil Tjay, whose real name is Tione Merritt, immediately turned heads after sharing a few clips in his Instagram Story. “Jamaica, Jamaica” he said while showing off a private helicopter transport to his lavish villa overlooking the sea, with a pool.

“Big packs on the choppa mane! 400 bills on tha Choppa” he added while counting a ton of Jamaican cash. He was also introduced to Jamaican humor as he was trolled for thinking that the amount of money he had was impressive.

Shenseea took to Instagram today, February 27, to share the fact that they met up and have been working together closely.  She captioned a picture of the two, “All we do is work”. She also tagged the 19-year-old rapper.

In the other photo, she can be seen with the rapper and crew staring at a laptop earnestly, as they were seemingly working on some music.

Shenseea later shared an Instagram Story in which she could be heard singing along to Tjay’s newly-minted hit single, Calling My Phone with 6BLACK, which became the No. 1 streaming song on Apple Music and Spotify when it was released in mid-February.

Billboard revealed today that the song is currently No. 1 on its Streaming Songs chart, while it debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week — the highest-charting position to date for both Lil Tjay and 6BLACK.

While not much is known about the project, Lil Tjay is working on his debut album so the link up with Shenseea could be a collaborative effort for that.

Tjay and Shenseea’s collab could also be destined for the Dancehall singer’s debut album which is expected to be released this year.

She told Hot 97’s Ebro In The Morning, last November that “I’ve never released an album before, I wanna see how well it’s gonna do. I wanna see how people gravitate to the different kinds of music I’m putting on there. Hopefully, we’re really aiming for March they say.”

Lil Tjay joins another popular American artist who also was spotted with Shenseea in the studio recently. The Blessed singer was seen with American R&B songbird H.E.R. and they both shared their encounter on Instagram, with Shenseea teasing that “we’ll soon let them know what it’s gon’ be! In the mean time, we doing our thing.”

Fans are definitely pumped to hear new music from Shenseea.
