Recording artist and music producer BEAM, who is the son of legendary Dancehall deejay and gospel Reggae singer Papa San, is reveling in the success of his Freedom track, a gospel collab with Canadian pop star Justin Bieber, which was released on Easter Sunday, April 4.

Not only is Freedom, which was co-written by the Kingston-born BEAM, the lead single, but it is also the title track for Bieber’s new six-track gospel “Freedom.” EP.

So far the album charted at number two on iTunes in the US.

It has also charted in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Canada, Spain, Australia, and Brazil.

The song, which is highly influenced by the Jamaican, makes references to Jamaican Easter celebrations and cuisine with lyrics mentioning “Good Friday, fish and bammy” and eating “Easter Sunday bun and cheese”.

It also sees Bieber in his verse, attempting to use Patois, singing:

“Big up to my brother
Blessed sons and daughters
We all lookin’ for the answers
We in search of living water…”

BEAM sings in variations of Patois and English:

Big up to our Father (Big)
If you call ‘pon Him, Him answer (Brr)
All we need a the begotten son to prosper (Yea, yea)
The dead resurrected, the Devil tried test it, him lost
Him lose again (Mm)
Head bruise again (Mm, mm-mm)
Sweat, blood, tears ‘pon the cross
Did you know He paid the cost for you?
Work over North, West, South and East

Good Friday, fish and bammy
One table and one family
All of the times weh mi cry from The Most High
God said, “No worry about it, mi love abundant, you’re still mine”

On Tuesday, BEAM, whose real name is Tyshane Thompson, gave praises to God for his breakthrough, for his second collab with Bieber, his first being Love You Different, which appears on the pop star’s album titled Justice which was released only two weeks before, and which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

In an Instagram post, the 26-year-old wrote “I wanna thank God first. Your love does not match and your timing is perfect.”

“@yourstrulyjump you’ve been my best friend since 10 , and we’ve struggle hard to get where we at. Every day on sunrise strip dreaming of moments like this. I love you bro , thank you for believing and pushing me.”

“@supadupaj thank you for believing in me in times I didn’t believe in my life. You never left my side despite the obstacles we faced. @skrillex thank you for opening up your home, you’ve changed my life. I wish people can see how much of a beautiful person you’re.  @djtayjames my brotha thank you for putting this together, this meant the world to me. Thank you for believing in me.”

“@justinbieber thank you for having me apart of this impeccable project. You didn’t have to put me on this song but you did. Dreams do come true…,” he added.
