Broncos’ Von Miller reportedly under criminal investigation

January 15th, 2021

Von Miller is under a criminal investigation by the Parker Police Department on the outskirts of Denver, Colorado, Mike Klis of 9News in Denver reported.

The department confirmed that an investigation is being done, Klis said, but didn’t give details.

“We’re not commenting on [the] nature of the allegations,” Parker Police spokesman Josh Hans said, via Klis. “We haven’t completed the investigation.”

Nick Kosmider of The Athletic confirmed that Miller is under investigation, but that no further details will be released at this time. If the department determines there was a crime, the charges will be submitted to the district attorney’s office for review, via Tony Renck at Denver7.

Miller was the Broncos second overall pick in the 2011 draft and has been with the franchise since then. The outside linebacker is an eight-time Pro Bowler and three-time All Pro selection. They won the Super Bowl in the 2016 season and Miller was named MVP.

He did not play in 2020 after suffering an ankle injury ahead of the season. He has a club option on his contract and if the team doesn’t pick it up he would become a free agent. Miller turns 32 in March.

The Broncos have until March 9 to make a decision. He has a $22.125 million cap hit for 2021 if the option is used. Turning down the option would free up $18 million, which appeared to be the route the Broncos would lean toward before the news of the investigation.
