Only Flo-Jo Has Better Sprinting Technique Than Elaine Thompson-Herah

May 8th, 2024

Based on the history books, Elaine Thompson-Herah has the second fastest time recorded over the 100m distance on the professional scene with a time of 10.54s, clocked back in 2021. On the other hand, the fastest woman in history, Florence Delorez Griffith Joyner clocked a world record time of 10.49s, set back in 1988.

Other females such as Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Shericka Jackson, Sha’Carri Richardson, Marion Jones, Carmelita Jeter etc. have also clocked impressive times over the years, causing many debates as to who is the best female sprinter in history with the title count also being an important factor.

After conducting an interview recently about her injuries and expectations for Paris 2024, Elaine Thompson-Herah‘s training videos are now making rounds online. Thompson-Herah is looking to obtain a 3rd double-double.

With the fact that she seems to be regaining fitness ahead of the tournament, a lot is being said online about her sprinting abilities. Logically, it would only be right to connect the fastest times with the best techniques, hence the reason Thompson-Herah is considered amongst the top two in history.

On Tuesday, track and field enthusiast Owen M shared his thoughts about Thompson-Herah and Griffith Joyner. He wrote, “When it comes to who has/had the best technique in the women’s sprints, there’s really only two ladies that you can bring into the conversation! … Flo-Jo & Elaine Thompson-Herah,” as the caption to the video below.

Notably, Sha’Carri Richardson clocked an impressive 10.65s over the 100m distance back in 2023 and is seemingly the female with the best recent form going into Paris over the distance. Richardson is another sprinter who can be considered to have a very good running technique.
