Miss Jamaica “Khalia Hall” Leaves To Compete In Global Competition – YARDHYPE

Khalia Hall, the winner for Miss Jamaica World 2021, is now out of the Island and is prepared to give her best in the global version of the beauty competition on December 16, being held at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Before leaving the country, Hall spoke to the Jamaica Observer who she expressed delight to for being the person chosen to represent Jamaica on the big stage and as such she is looking forward to doing her best and following in the footsteps of Toni-ann Singh who won the last competition in 2019.

In addition to her ecstatic feelings, Khalia expressed gratitude to the Miss Jamaica World organization, her friends, family and even strangers who supported her on the journey with encouragement. According to her, since she got crowned, there have been more and more persons coming forward to her assistance in areas of speech, presentation, grooming and where her dancing talent piece is concerned.

Where the likes of Toni-Ann Singh is concerned, Hall stated that it was no pressure for her to match up to the level of the competition’s former winner since they are two different persons, however, she stated that she aimed to perform at her best and to maintain the good finishes that Jamaica has achieved while competing throughout the years of the event. 

This year’s staging of the competition is set to have 109 women lined up, which includes first-timers such as Somalia, Iraq and returning countries such as Sint Maarten, Cuba, Estonia who entered the pageant again after being absent for some years.

Hall says she is very excited about her trip, especially based on the fact that she will be meeting girls from different cultures across the World and will be able to share hers as well. She also expressed that Miss Italy is one of the main people who she would want to meet as she speaks little Italian.

Khalia Hall is 25 years old and is a holder of a masters degree in mechanical engineering which she did at the University Of Manchester in the UK, and also has a talent of being a chef which she uses to focus on plant-based dishes. The new Miss Jamaica is also involved in charity as she recently utilized her Project called “Beauty with a Purpose” in the parish of St. Andrew, to host a pop-up café to generate funds for one of her ideas, the Mustard Seed Communities that help children who have been abandoned.

Weston Haughton, the Co-franchised of the local Miss Jamaica competition expressed to the Sunday Observer that he is happy with the preparations that Hall has done for the competition, stating that she was trained by great talents and was prepped in fashion by local designers. As such Haughton says he hopes that the effort of the new Miss Jamaica will help the country to secure a back to back win. 

Overall there have been four occasions, where Jamaica has won the Global pageant, starting with Carole Joan Crawford in 1963, Cindy Breakspeare in 1976, Lisa Hanna with her win in 1993 and the most recent Toni-Ann Singh who copped the title in 2019.

Hall, a native of St. Ann won the competition back on October 9 when she went up against 14 other women to be crowned as Miss Jamaica.
