Kishane Thompson Looks ‘Unbeatable’ Running 9.91 in Hungary

July 9th, 2024

Jamaica’s latest rising track star Kishane Thompson ran an impressive 9.91s(-0.6) race on Tuesday to win the 100m men’s race at the Gyulai Istvan Memorial, World Athletics Continental Tour-Gold meet in Szekesfehervar, Hungary.

The Jamaica national male sprint champion led the race from the get-go, clearly eased off the gas about 60m into the race and cruised to the finish line looking around at his competitors.

Weeks ago, Kishane Thompson ran a PB and world-leading time of 9.77s and revealed in a post-race interview that he was not at full power. It was more clear in this is latest race that he still has a lot in the thank and the world has not seen his best effort.

With regards to his potential, veteran MVP track coach Stephen Francis outlined that, “Kishane is ahead of where Asafa was at each stage in terms of he is a very powerful athlete. He has problems or potential problems with his weight, depending on his discipline.”

Thompson is currently the favourite going into the 100m at the Paris Olympics which is just weeks away. Fellow Jamaican Oblique Seville and American sprinter Noah Lyles are also favourites going into the 2024 Olympics, however, none has looked as in a form/shape so far this season as Thompson.
