Ice Spice Releases ‘Gimmie The Light’ Music Video

May 11th, 2024

Rapper Ice Spice’s highly anticipated Gimmie The Light music video, in which she samples Sean Paul’s 2002 song Gimme The Light, was released on Friday. Fusing hip-hop and Dancehall, Ice Spice raps on a revamped version of the Buzz Riddim, while a slowed version of Sean Paul’s Gimme The Light vocals play throughout most of the music video.

The music video begins with Sean Paul‘s vocals singing, “Just gimme the light and pass the dro, Buss anotha bokkle a Moë, gyal dem inna mi sight and a gots to know,” on Jamaican producer Troyton Rami’s Buzz Riddim. Shortly after, Ice Spice takes over, rapping, “Hotboxin’ the V like, Gimme a light, fat ass, so the pants fit tight, take her man, I’m gettin’ him right, big knock like why would I fight?”

Meanwhile, the pink aesthetic visuals show the New York rapper being chauffeured around her city in a pink Range Rover accompanied by her motorcade. At the back of the Range Rover, which has the name of Ice Spice‘s upcoming album,  “Y2K,” on the license plate, she smokes and twerks in a black tank top and matching mini skirt.

Another scene shows her dancing in denim booty shorts and an orange top with money in her hand at times. A different scene captures the entertainer at a party in a warehouse, where she showcases more of her dancing skills in a pink body suit.

Another comment read, “ice spice on a sean paul sample beat is somthing i would never have expected.”
