I-Octane Urges Jamaicans to “STOP VOTE” in Strong Statement ahead of Local Government Elections – Video

February 25th, 2024

Reggae/Dancehall artiste I-Octane took to social media multiple times on Sunday to call out Jamaica’s government after Protoje’s ‘Lost In Time Festival’ was locked off abruptly by the police.

The show ended as Popcaan performed onstage, something many dancehall fans did not like to see including I-Octane who initially voided his opinion online via a comment.

Hours later on Sunday, after making his comment, the day before Jamaicans head to the polls on Monday, February 26 for Local Government Elections, the ‘lose a friend’ singer took his outcry a step further by posting a video of himself talking about the things he believes the government are doing wrong to the music and people of Jamaica.

The 39-year-old wrote, “JAMAICANS STOP VOTE FI SUGAR STOP VOTE FI SALT,” as the caption for the video he shared.

“Unuh a run guh vote fi dem politician yah,” outlines I-Octane before highlighting that several Dancehall and Reggae shows have been locked off abruptly. He also touched on his personal issues with law-enforcers/government.

“Nuh vote unuh nuffi get,” said I-Octane to conclude his strong statement.
