Excess Franchise Demand Prompts Juici Patties to Pause US Applications

May 2nd, 2024

Juici Beef Limited, the famous Jamaican patty company, has temporarily halted franchise applications for its US expansion due to overwhelming demand. The decision comes in response to a flood of requests that have exceeded expectations, prompting the company to focus on managing its existing franchises’ success and quality.

In an email to a prospective franchisee in the US, Juici Patties USA expressed appreciation for the interest but regretfully announced the closure of applications for the current year. The company assured interested parties that they would be notified when applications resume.

Juici Patties offers franchises ranging from small stores at US$347,000 to larger outlets at US$793,000, which includes a US$30,000 franchise fee and development support. Emphasising their commitment to franchisee success, the company pledges assistance in getting restaurants operational, leveraging their experience in the fast-casual dining sector.

The recent opening of its inaugural US store in Hollywood, Florida, saw unprecedented demand, with record sales achieved on the first day. The store, managed by Rhea Wright, the youngest franchisee, sold nearly 5,000 patties on opening day, surpassing expectations. Subsequent daily sales have remained robust, attracting customers from as far as Oregon to Florida.

As reported by Jamaica Observer, Daniel Chin, a director of Juici Patties and CEO of its US operations, revealed that 40 franchise agreements have been signed in the US. However, production capacity limits expansion for now, with plans to increase capacity before considering further franchise agreements.

Looking ahead, Juici Patties aims to establish a presence in all 50 US states, prioritising market expansion over international ventures. Meanwhile, in Jamaica, the company plans to add more franchises to its existing 65 stores, with upcoming locations in Montego Bay and Portmore.
