January 8th, 2021

Ultra talented dancehall-reggae artiste Davianah will be teaming up with Frankie Music for the release of her Rebel OffSpring EP in 2021.

“I will be doing seven tracks, and it’s a mixture of reggae and dancehall and R n B, and it will be released in the first quarter of 2021,” Davianah, whose real name is Davahu Barrett, said.

Some of the songs include Bad One, the racy Cheer You Up, Fed Up, Underdog and On the Outside. The lead single will be the Bad One which will be released later this month on the Frankie Music label.

“They always say I am the ‘bad one’, and that’s going to shake up the place, it’s a very soulful, very vulnerable song that people can relate to. The EP  has a lot of deep songs, Frankie wanted to capture the essence of me, big ups to Chevaughn who has come in and done harmony on the songs…dem sound like ah foreign dem build….Frankie is going hard trust me. We don’t plan to miss,” the spunky Davianah said.

The 24-year-old artiste, who is the daughter of the reggae star Tony Rebel, released a video for a separate single, Nonstop four weeks ago which racked up thousands of views on YouTube.  The song, which was produced by German indie outfit Raptilloids, has racked up over 50,000 views since its release four months ago which shows that the artiste’s popularity is surging in the marketplace.

“I did a couple of singles with Raptilloids in Germany, so we have other music separate from that, but right now, ah just straight EP songs beginning January morning,” she said.

Born July 28, 1992, Davianah debuted at Reggae Sumfest 2011 during Tony Rebel’s set, doing a cover of Estelle’s ‘Come Over’ that elicited a huge response from the crowd. She performed on Reggae Sumfest 2017 and ‘Reggae on the Hill’ in Barbados, and she wowed fans during a controversial Rebel Salute set in 2019 that set tongues wagging because of her bold fashion choices.

Since her 2011 debut, the 25-year-old has been making steady progress on the music scene, Davianah has become known for her melodic attractive reggae freestyles and also controversial hard-hitting hardcore freestyles that have won her numerous fans through social media.

“I heard that Rebel Salute will be held virtually next year but I won’t be a part of it,” she said, chuckling.
