Crocodiles ‘Out and About’ In Southern Jamaica Post Hurricane Beryl: 10ft Beast Rescued

July 11th, 2024

There have been multiple crocodile sightings in Jamaica since the passing of Hurricane Beryl, which led to NEPA’s (National Environment and Planning Agency) response team being sent on rescue missions to recover and account for the animals.

One video footage shows a large crocodile on the main road leading toward Hellshire. Cars were seen stopping to allow the creature passage across the street from its spot in the middle of the road.

Savecrocsja posted another video of NEPA agents tying up a crocodile that was roaming around freely. In the video, the agents drive into a community with onlooking bystanders and a police car, the footage also shows a crocodile with a rope around it.

The post was captioned, “We safely relocated this 10ft male croc after he was pulled out of the canal by the community…Thanks to the Police…the community…and special shoutout to the community member who captured the footage for us.”

Someone in the comment section of the video questioned, “Do you by chance tag these beautiful creatures so as to track on them?” In response treyaann stated, “We sure do ! They’re tagged with a microchip so if caught again we can scan and ID…”
