February 10th, 2024

A plane crash in Florida killed two people after it plunged into a vehicle on a highway on Friday. The plane, travelling from Columbus, Ohio, to Naples, Florida, exploded on the highway shortly after it lost both of its engines.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board. As per the report, the Bombardier Challenger 600 jet that exploded was carrying five passengers.

Three passengers managed to survive the crash. However, it is unclear if the two deceased individuals were occupants of the plane.

In the air traffic control audio that was shared online, the pilot can be heard telling one of the control towers close to Naples airport that he “lost both engines” and will be “making an emergency landing.”

TMZ reported that the pilot was unable to reach the designated runway for landing and plummeted into Interstate 75 in Collier County. Upon crash-landing, the aircraft struck a vehicle, resulting in an explosion.

Pictures have since surfaced showing the burning aircraft and the charred debris after the firefighters extinguished the fire at the scene.
